Education is the key to stewardship. Raising awareness about how human activity can impact eelgrass beds will not only benefit the eelgrass itself, but all the sea life that depends on it for survival.

Educational materials that we have developed for the Eelgrass Stewardship Project include:

Felt-boards of eelgrass and animals that depend on it (children move shapes around on board)

Educational activities (Huu-ay-aht Youth Science Camp, Bamfield Community School field trips) including mapping, diversity and abundance measurements, species identification, conservation games.
